16 December 2021, Mainz, Germany
- The election is scheduled for the beginning of January 2022
The Shareholder Council of specialty glass manufacturer SCHOTT AG has appointed Dr. Michael Bolle (60) the newest member of the Supervisory Board as a representative of the sole shareholder, the Carl Zeiss Foundation.
Dr. Bolle was most recently a member of the Robert Bosch GmbH Management Board and is soon to be elected Chairman of the Supervisory Board of SCHOTT AG at an extraordinary meeting planned for the beginning of January 2022. Dr. Bolle will be succeeding Dr. Dieter Kurz (73), whose mandate will end after almost ten years on December 31, 2021.
"We would like to thank Dr. Dieter Kurz for his many years of successful work for SCHOTT. Right at the beginning of his term as Chairman of the Supervisory Board in 2012, he made important decisions that have led to the successful development of SCHOTT in recent years. We would like to thank him for his loyalty and excellent work and wish Mr. Kurz all the best for the future," said Dr. Frank Heinricht, Chairman of the Board of Management of SCHOTT AG.
As of January 1, 2022, Dr. Bolle will also be taking over as Chairman of the Shareholder Council of the Carl Zeiss Foundation, previously held by Dr. Kurz, and will thus represent all shareholder interests of the Foundation in the future.
Dr. Bolle holds a doctorate in Engineering and has held executive positions at Bosch since 1992 - with an interruption as the founder of a high-tech startup from 1999 to 2002. Most recently, he was Managing Director, Chief Technology Officer (CTO), and Chief Digital Officer (CDO) of Robert Bosch GmbH. During his time at Bosch, he drove the development of the Bosch Center for Artificial Intelligence and connecting the Internet of Things with Artificial Intelligence (AIoT), among other things.
"We are looking forward to working with Dr. Michael Bolle. SCHOTT will benefit from his decades of experience as a top manager and expert in the fields of technology and artificial intelligence," said Dr. Frank Heinricht.
